Membership and giving
The Santipada Buddhist Monastery offers teachings freely to anyone seeking the priceless gift of the Dhamma. The livelihood of the monastics, the maintenance and development of the Monastery, and the meditation programmes relies on the kindness of others. Dana, or the practice of giving and generosity is central to Buddhism. Done from a good heart, it counters miserliness and brings its own rewards. People may offer service as a volunteer or donate money or food. All will be very gratefully received. Please see below for online donation and membership forms.
"And what is the treasure of generosity? There is the case of a disciple of the noble ones, his awareness cleansed of the stain of stinginess, living at home, freely generous, openhanded, delighting in being magnanimous, responsive to requests, delighting in the distribution of alms. This is called the treasure of generosity." - AN 7.6
"Even if a person throws the rinsings of a bowl or a cup into a village pool or pond, thinking, 'May whatever animals live here feed on this,' that would be a source of merit." - AN 3.57
Another way to offer support is to contribute your time and skills. If you are a keen meditator wish to stay and serve as a volunteer (Minimum five days), or if you have any other expertise you would like to offer, please contact us.
